How does your Film represent social groups or issues?           My Film addresses social group issues by representing the problem within the Generation Z community of peer pressure and the overuse of drugs. With the world we live in today it is even easier than before to come across drugs. Drugs have been and will continue to be a devastating issue in communities but, the effect it has on teens is tremendous. According to the Addiction Center, "Nearly 90% of substance use disorders start during teenage years". This information represents the importance of why teens should avoid drug consumption at this vulnerable age it is easier to develop an addiction. This will result in the society of Gen Z becoming less aware and present with what is happening in this world.  Hello, it's Kaz and we're back with another blog. Today is Monday and I was ready to hang out with Hunter and Noura to film. Me and Hunter had a great conversation about different shots and angles in class. We performed them in class to see how we would record them at the party scene. As a group, we decided to use a friend's party to capture the party scene which is convenient for us. This would be an amazing chance to capture the culture of Teenagers when in social environments. The fake sobriety will be conducted using the candy smarties smashed up. This film will attack a serious topic for the new generation in a hilarious but serious way. This concept speaks volumes to me because even though I'm not very serious, I know how to shift gears and adjust myself when serious topics arise. The brainstorming sessions have been wild, and we've got this epic plan brewing. I woke up feeling enthusiastic about the upcoming school assignment that Noura, Hunter and I had to film in just 5 days. However, before I could focus on the filming aspect, I knew I had to prioritize my studies and homework. The day started with a healthy breakfast to fuel my brain for the day ahead. Hello, it's Kazmin and I'm back with another blog. So, today I decided to look at party scenes in different movies. I watched a few different shows and movies to capture the parties in film for the 21st century. This is a big part of the film because it captures the essence of peer pressure. The party scene also represents how teens react because of stress and societal social norms. I want to really capture this scene perfectly so I'm going to try to emerge real life with film interactions. Another task for me today was finding the right shot to capture the emotions of the teens while at the party. I was thinking a tracking shot may be good to capture what is going on around the party while still focusing on the main characters. I think me and Hunter will have a great time acting out these roles. Speaking of Hunter he had a wrestling tournament today so we weren't able to speak.

 Hello, it's Kaz and I'm back with another blog. Today I stayed home and watched different types of shows. I practiced different accents while sick and learned different editing techniques. I got very sick from camping and I stayed home so we could not film. But, at home, I could edit my shots at camp and make a mini film. It was good practice for me I made it like a story interaction with transitions to where I was.  Hunter and Noura had today to talk over the new date to meet up and make the film. We planned on going to Noura's house to shoot the intro. We also have a location to shoot the party scene to make the comedic dialogue. The idea of making the short film a comedy came from the movie Superbad. This is one of the most influential movies for this film it inspired our script heavily.   Hello, it's Kazmin and I am back with another blog!!!!! Why isn't Kazmin talking about production? Well.... Let's say the group could not meet together to film. Hunter is a profound student-athlete who takes both aspects of his life seriously. Which leads to the reason he wasn't able to meet with us. He had a district wrestling tournament that took him to states to win it all!!!! Isn't that so amazing he's so talented and marvelous but, that still doesn't help our filming situation... Well, I'm not so innocent either I had my reasons to not film either. You see I had to go to church camp and it took away 4 days of filming. It was such a fun experience it brought me closer to my religion and made me feel so much better. It even taught me many different ways to act being that there was improv with different words.   Short Film Research:  No Deal by Joe Burke / Comedy   •  This short film follows the story of a girl and a guy trying to spend the night together. The  main conflict is that the girl’s roommate is a very eccentric man.  H er roommate  keeps on interrupting  their time together in weird ways. Eventually the man who is trying to hook up with the girl gives up and lashes out.  •  This short was funny and a great example of the comedy genre.  The plot itself was very  humorous . Ultimately, me and my group think what made this  short film so funny was the roommate’s wacky behavior. As the short went on, the roommate would do even crazier things that would result in interruption of the girl and the guy ’s alone time.   Short Film Research:  Consent by Jason Reitman/ Comedy   •  This comedy short followed a teenage girl and boy duo considering the pros and cons of hooking up with each other on their first date.  It has several humorous elements that made it very funny and entertaining to watch! •  No music or scoring is used in this short film, which causes the mood of the short to be very authentic.  This lack of music and strict use of just ambient and  diagetic  sounds (e.x- bed sheets ruffling)  is a common use of sound in the comedy genre because it makes the film more relatable and real. •  Also,  the characters’ normal, casual clothing,  made the short relatable for  us to watc h. Today we will be looking at and researching the comedy Ouija Sex, which picked up several awards and was selected for the 14th short film competition.  In this film, we noticed the sounds being very intense and serious at first, we thought that this film wasn't a comedy at all. Later on in the film the the sounds started to get a little more in serious going along with the plot that the film wasn't serious at all. There were many sounds in the film that had a lot of crashes as well, emphasizing the clumsiness of the husband in this film who lost his wife. The song played had an Italian ring to it, we are unsure if this is common in comedy films though. The shots that we saw throughout this film mainly consisted of close-ups, mainly focusing on the main character himself, as comedies typically focus on a few amount of people to emphasize the humor.  Hey everyone, welcome back to another one of our research blogs. Today we will be digging in and looking into the Short Film Omnibus, a comedy. This film was made by Sam Karmann and won the Oscar in the 1992-1993 awards season. It portrays a Frenchman trying to get off of a train at a stop which it wasn't scheduled for.  In this film, the sound starts off as some cheesy movie intro, giving us this pattern that that's how a short film comedy should start. On the train in this film, all you could hear was the sound of the engine along with the dialogue between the Frenchman and the worker on the train. The idea of minimum sound is now starting to become a pattern we have noticed through the short films we have analyzed so far.  When analyzing the Mis-en-scene in this film, the costumes are usually oversized for the main character who has to well be humorous.  Hello, today we will be talking about how to make a short film. Our biggest takeaway from this video is that making a short film is about knowing what you can do with what you have and making your writing correspond with your budget and team. While watching this video we learned that for a short film, you should write to the strengths and weaknesses of your cast. Make sure to give 100% when acting to complete the short film. Also, if you do not have great technology to record sound do not make your film dialogue heavy. A good way to keep morale up is by having snacks and drinks and being comfortable. If you are doing post-production by yourself, make sure to make time to step away from it to see it clearly. Also bringing somebody else to give a new opinion can give a new outlook which can result in helpful feedback. Try to keep on cutting it until it feels too tight then let it breathe afterwards.   Hello, today we will be talking about the comparison of La Jetée vs 12 monkeys. We learned that Le Jetée is an intriguing low-fi sci-fi time travel tale. The Le Jetée is considered a photo novel and is not completely referred to as a film. The flow of images alongside the audio gives it cumulative power. In effect, the entire film is a meditation on the passage of time. There are 400+ pictures in Le Jetée a few repeat but it's the variation in the usage that makes the overall effect so potent. Clean cuts for a traditional shot reverse shot orientation and crossfades or dissolves for a more dream-like ambiance. The longer holds allow us to absorb and explore certain images. Audio is generally deployed with great subtlety and sometimes accentuates the visuals more overtly. 12 Monkeys and Le Jetée both climax with the explanation for the child's haunting vision that he witnessed his own adult's death.   Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie   Short Film: Me and my  groupmates ’ first impression of this short film was that it had a very intentionally eerie  style. Upon first glance, we saw a dark, muddy color scheme  that set a creepy mood for the rest of the short. This eerie first impression was also supported by the scoring of the short.  The first sounds we hear when the short begins are heavy metal clanking  (resembling the sounds of  a creepy blacksmith you may see in a horror film) and old rusted metal squeaking as it is moved .  The scoring increases in intensity as the short’s plot thickens. Once we reach the climax, where the main character fights off the main antagonist, the music is also at  its peak.  Hey guys welcome back to our blog, for today's blog we will be making our decision for which genre we will be using for our opening sequence. • Genre(Thriller)- After researching the thriller genre, we can say that this is a great genre for our film sequence. We can take the suspenseful, scary route for our pitch but there are a few problems with this. The first issue is that it would be hard conducting such a film with our pitch. Our pitch deals with the empty hole in a characters heart and his will to fight to fill that void, literally. It would be difficult to make a thriller film with this pitch. Although this could very well be done, it would seem odd and unfit.  • Genre(Comedy)- Comedy, this is such a magnificent genre as it brings happiness and laughter to the lives of the audience watching it.
